Hi, my name is Walter Machielsen and I’ve been fascinated by microscopy ever since I got a toy microscope for Christmas when I was a kid.

Nowadays,  the combination of digital photography, the connectivity between the camera and the PC,  and focus stacking software has added a new dimension to this fantastic hobby.

With this website I’d like to show you my discoveries. The biggest part of the nature that surrounds us can only be seen through the lens of a microscope!

Update July 2019: Not precisely microphoto’s are the pictures added in connection with my trip to the rainforest in Madgascar earlier this month. Besides the lemurs, birds, frogs and reptiles I’ve tried to focus on insects as well, adding a simple macro/close-up conversion lens to the camera. Fun to do that as well, the macro images!
